Pulpit Calendar for May
May holds special significance for Methodists because we remember and celebrate John Wesley’s Aldersgate experience. It is also a time to reflect on John Wesley’s spiritual awakening and its profound impact on the Methodist movement.
In response to our call and identity as Christians and a community of believers, at pulpit and pastoral teaching, we shall embark on a new series on Methodism – We are a connectional church.
We shall study the framework for understanding and practising our faith; it reflects John Wesley’s belief that we are “a community where Christians are taught by scripture, instructed by tradition, enriched by reason and affirmed by the corporate experience of the followers of Christ.”
28 April (Sun) #1 Scripture
9 May (Thu) #2 Reason (Pastoral Teaching)
12 May (Sun) #3 Tradition
19 May (Sun) #4 Experience (Pentecost Sunday)
25 May (Sun) Aldersgate Sunday
Pastoral Teaching in May 2024
Methodism – We are a Connectional Church
Date: 9 May 2024
Time: 8pm
Venue: Zoom (bit.ly/skmcpt845)
John Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, Tradition, Experience and Reason. These make up the tool – the Wesleyan Quadrilateral.
Join us in the Pastoral Teaching as we examine how in particular, REASONS helps us identify the Christian truths, and understand what John Wesley meant ”that religion and reason go hand in hand.”

AldersgateSG 2024 Celebration Service & Lectures
AldersgateSG is here again, and it’s time to celebrate our Wesleyan heritage!
John Wesley’s encounter with the Holy Spirit, where he felt “strangely warmed”,
marked a new conviction of his sonship in God. Our founder’s emphasis on a believer’s personal and social holiness continues to be an important aspect of our Methodist tradition and guiding principles. Let us not forget our roots as we celebrate AldersgateSG 2024, and remember our Lord’s commandment in Matthew 22, which also covers Bishop Dr Gordon Wong’s quadrennium message of “Loving God by Loving Our Neighbours”.
