I was preaching about “Christ – Our Redeemer”, an Easter message on 25 April 2015. It was about how the death of Christ opens a way for us to commune with God. When he died, the curtain of the temple was torn from above and the earth shook. Suddenly, we felt a huge shake in the sanctuary.
“Earthquake!!! Earthquake!!!”
Someone shouted. The shake gradually increased in magnitude till the entire wall seemed to be collapsing on us (it was a 7.9 magnitude!). It was also accompanied with the massive sound of wind. Immediately, we hurried down to an open space beside the church. While waiting, I continued preaching and encouraged everyone, including myself, to trust in our Great Redeemer who loves us all.
“God is our Refuge and Strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains falls into the heart of the sea” (Psalm 46: 1-2)
Are you in trouble? Is your life shaken right now?
Although we cannot prevent a shake, we can prevent our hearts from falling into pieces because of that. As we began to rebuild our lives, my family learnt to trust in God even more. With strength from God, Jacqueline and I ministered to our friends in Nepal through relief aid ministries and reconstruction ministry. Amen.
